Nathan Shields made a pancake with holes in the middle, then wrapped that pancake around a cylindrical mold. He sealed it with additional pancake batter and then placed a recorder mouthpiece in one end. Now it’s a playable flute that his kids clearly love.
This was more a proof of concept than a tutorial unless you have a suitable mouthpiece kicking around. And the proof isn’t all that rigorous.
To celebrate the return of AMC‘s The Walking Dead last Sunday, Nathan Shields and fellow pancake artist Kevin Blankenship created a delicious collection of pancake sculptures that resemble characters from the hit television series.
After the zombie apocalypse, pancakes will be hard to come by, so enjoy them while you can.
A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin, 5, Ryan, 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. “If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, ‘Let my brother have the first pancake. I can wait.'”
Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, “Ryan, you be Jesus!”
