White House: Transparency Behind Closed Doors?

Video Description:

Remember all of President Obama’s “open government” and “transparency” promises? Here’s a refresher: “The way to make government accountable is to make it transparent, so the American people can know exactly what decisions are being made, how they’re being made and whether their interests are being well served.” -President Obama, January 21, 2009

But when it comes to actual transparency and open government, this is what the White House actually delivers: “I think there are discussions, even about transparency and developing rules about transparency that we need to be able to have quietly and behind closed doors.” – Daniel Gordon, White House staff testimony on attempted White House politicization of federal government contracting.

Your Oversight watchdogs are holding the Obama Administration accountable not just for its attempts to drag politics into taxpayer-funded federal contracts, but on its epic failures of transparency, open government and accountability. You deserve to know why.

Change

There’s an old sea story about a ship’s Captain who inspected his sailors, and afterward told the first mate that his men smelled bad.

The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors would change underwear occasionally.

The first mate responded, “Aye, aye sir, I’ll see to it immediately!”

The first mate went straight to the sailors berth deck and announced, “The Captain thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your underwear.”

He continued, “Pittman, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with Witkowski, and Brown, you change with Schultz.”

THE MORAL OF THE STORY:

Someone may come along and promise “Change”, but don’t count on things smelling any better…
