Icheon Master” is a video from 2013 by The American Museum of Ceramic Art that celebrates the works of a quartet of ceramics masters — Lee Hyang-Gu, You Yong-Chul, Choi In-Gyu, and Jo Se-Yeon. The short, which offers a quick glimpse into the processes of each, was created as part of the museum’s Icheon: Reviving the Korean Ceramics exhibition, which ran through December 29th 2013. The exhibit was named for the Icheon Ceramics Village in Icheon, South Korea, which is a hotbed of ceramics creation.

Rubber Chicken An artist asked the gallery owner if there had been any interest in her paintings that were on display.

“Well, I have good news and bad news,” the owner responded. “The good news is that a gentleman noticed your work and wondered if it would appreciate in value after your death. I told him it would and he bought all 10 of your paintings.”

“That’s wonderful,” the artist exclaimed. “What’s the bad news?”

“The gentleman was your doctor.”

We all got told to get creative with Crayola’s, but here’s an artist that actually knew how to make use of this imagination. Instead of using the crayons for coloring, Hoang Tran turned them into canvas. Taking inspiration from popular series such as Doctor Who, Breaking Bad and Star Wars, he hand carved the tip of the crayons into intricate wax sculptures of popular characters including Darth Vader, R2-D2, Chewbacca and Yoda.

Doodling is good for the brain and for your creativity. As you doodle, the left hand side of the brain begins to go to sleep and all those annoying thoughts about what, where, when and how, fade away.

The the magical process begins. The right side of the brain, given time and space to be in charge, somehow come up with all the answers that the left side of the brain is demanding.

If ever you are stuck for an answer, stop trying to force it out, start doodling instead. You will be amazed!
