McCartney Says Skip The Turkey On Thanksgiving

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Thanksgiving an American holiday.

Just for that I’m making 2 Turkeys this year.

Idiot

Former Beatle Paul McCartney, a long-time vegetarian, has joined a campaign by animal rights group PETA to encourage Americans to celebrate a turkey-free Thanksgiving this week.

The British rock legend, sporting a gray shirt with an “eat no turkey” design, is featured on the website of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

“This Thanksgiving, Paul McCartney is urging you to say ‘no, thanks’ to turkey and ‘yes’ to a delicious, cruelty-free holiday meal,” the group says.

More than 45 million turkeys will make their way onto American dinner tables on Thursday, and another 22 million are consumed at Christmas, according to PETA.

PETA Wishes The Flyswatter in Chief Hadn’t Swatted That Fly

You can’t say we didn’t call this one!

The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he’s bedeviled by a fly in the White House.

PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.

“We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals,” PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. “We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals.”

During an interview for CNBC at the White House on Tuesday, a fly intruded on Obama’s conversation with correspondent John Harwood.

“Get out of here,” the president told the pesky insect. When it didn’t, he waited for the fly to settle, put his hand up and then smacked it dead.

“Now, where were we?” Obama asked Harwood. Then he added: “That was pretty impressive, wasn’t it? I got the sucker.”

Friedrich said that PETA was pleased with Obama’s voting record in the Senate on behalf of animal rights and noted that he has been outspoken against animal abuses.

Still, “swatting a fly on TV indicates he’s not perfect,” Friedrich said, “and we’re happy to say that we wish he hadn’t.”

Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said the White House has no comment on the matter.

Barack Obama (D-Kenya): The Human Flyswatter

Obama kills a fly during an interview and the press spins it as “Truly, this man had godlike powers!” The actual fact is that Kenyans are pretty good at swatting flies. It is part of everyday life in Kenya. Obama has got it in his blood.

One question… PETA where is the outrage?

Talk about flying at your own risk.

President Barack Obama, nettled by a fly during a TV interview at the White House, took matters into his own hands Tuesday.

Said Obama to the persistent fly: “Get out of here.”

But it didn’t.

So Obama waited for the fly to settle, put his hand up and then smacked the fly dead in one try.

Without missing a beat, the president said to CNBC correspondent John Harwood: “Now, where were we?”

Well, maybe one more second to gloat.

Said Obama: “That was pretty impressive, wasn’t it? I got the sucker.”

The camera crew was still rolling in the East Room. Obama didn’t mind. He pointed to the vanquished insect on the ground and said, “You want to film that?”

CNBC did. That fly is history.
