Which Came First, The Chicken or the Egg?

If you believe in God, this age-old question really has a simple answer. According to the Creator of chickens, and the author of the Record of their origins, chickens came first. It was on the Fifth Day of Creation:

“And God created great whales and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind; and God saw that it was good.”.

It has perplexed humanity from as early as the Ancient Greeks. So which came first, the chicken or the egg? We take a crack at this curious conundrum.

This is Water

A great life advice speech.

In 2005, author David Foster Wallace was asked to give the commencement address to the 2005 graduating class of Kenyon College. However, the resulting speech didn’t become widely known until 3 years later, after his tragic death. It is, without a doubt, some of the best life advice we’ve ever come across, and perhaps the most simple and elegant explanation of the real value of education.

We made this video, built around an abridged version of the original audio recording, with the hopes that the core message of the speech could reach a wider audience who might not have otherwise been interested.

What If The Sun Disappeared?

Everyone is curious about what would happen to Earth if the sun disappeared. In short: We’d be hosed.

Popular science educator Michael from Vsauce returns to the web to discuss gravity and the Sun. As a thought experiment, he asks the interesting hypothetical, “What if the sun disappeared?“

It’s not going to happen, but interestingly enough, if it did, we wouldn’t be aware that anything was wrong for a good eight minutes, as it takes that long for light to travel the millions of miles from the Sun to the Earth.

Life By The Numbers

Have you ever wondered how successful humans are when compared to other species?

There are now more than 7 billion human beings on Earth, and that got me wondering: How successful are we compared to other species? I take a look at out how our numbers stack up to some other domains of life. It turns out that biomass, or what things weigh, can be more important than how many of something there are. Find out how our numbers stack up against everything from bugs to bacteria, and get ready for some mind-blowing numbers!

I Have Been In Many Places

I have been in many places, but I’ve never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can’t go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.

I’ve also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.

I have, however, been in Sane. They don’t have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.

I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I’m not too much on physical activity anymore.

I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.

I’ve been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.

Sometimes I’m in Capable, and I go there more often as I’m getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!

And, sometimes I think I am in Vincible but life shows me I am not!
