Redneck Pumpkin Carving

The right tool for the job!

Yep, October means it’s time for Pumpkin Carving at the Hickok Compound! We’re still a bit perplexed that so many people consider my method a bit unusual; I’ve never known any other way to do it. :-)

Obamanation – Jon McNaughton

Obamanation One Painting That Says It All

Artist and patriot Jon McNaughton explains the interactive painting he has created with 60 symbols that detail the “Obamanation” of the Barack Hussein Obama Presidency.

I chose to use an undisclosed studio so I could paint privately, without interruption, to focus on the task of embedding in a single painting all the subtle, mindless, radical and dangerous atrocities of the Obama administration.

I am just one person, a citizen of this country using my first amendment rights to speak out through my art. This is my declaration that we have never had a president do more to harm our country than Barack Obama.

To those who scoff or wish to trivialize this painting, I challenge you… I DARE YOU… study the links of the various symbols and metaphors that you see. There are over 60 in the painting. No person can analyze this image and learn about these facts and still, in good conscience, vote for Obama in 2012.

I do not hate Obama, but I hate the fact that I had to paint this picture. Has the painting gone too far? I knew when I did this that most Obama supporters would reject what I have done. But as a Conservative, I’m fed up with the corruption in Washington. And I’m sick of the political correctness that has derailed our country!

My art is an expression of the times in which I live and people will know how Jon McNaughton felt about being alive in America in 2012.

Take the Challenge! If you still choose Obama, congratulations…you’re a part of the Obamanation.

Human Hair Necklaces

Kerry Howley is a contemporary jeweller and jewellery artist recently graduated with a First Class BA Hons Jewellery and Accessories degree from Middlesex University. She is fascinated by the power materials have to influence our emotional response to jewellery, with a particular interest in how these emotions can be conflicting.

Attraction/Aversion is Kerry’s award winning graduate collection, winning the Museum of Domestic Architecture’s Arthur Silver Award for graduate innovation and excellence.

Attraction/Aversion is a material exploration of how people can feel seemingly opposing emotional responses simultaneously.

The necklaces are made of human hair, a familiar material that we take pride in. However once off of the body hair becomes an innate source of aversion. Kerry wanted to see if she could make discarded hair attractive again.

Through the familiar form of a necklace, and using patterns and symmetry that are instinctively pleasing, Kerry has created a delicate balance between the viewer/wearer’s feelings of aversion and attraction.

Photorealistic Pencil Drawings

Photo-realistic Pencil Drawings

Paul Lung is a business design consultant who spends most of his free time making pencil portraits that would put a DSLR camera to shame. He uses a 0.5mm technical pencil to draw stuff that catches his fancy. Mostly it’s realistic renderings of his family and friends, even himself; but there’s simply something about wildlife that brings out the best of his abilities.
