At the base do I sit,
At first glance, appear I, a misfit.
For among my peers, I seem colossal,
My company, I jostle.
My duty is quite simple you see,
Separate those not in harmony.
Without me, everything would be jumbled as a whole,
But at my beckon, I cut between, making it no longer sole.
I guarantee I am something you have seen many a time,
So tell me this, what am I which cuts, but am never convicted of a crime?
