The Tennessee Republican Party has come up with a great idea for a bumper sticker that will give the American people a way to show their disapproval of the Democrat Party’s refusal to approve increased drilling for oil in our own country.

Tennessee Republican Party offers motorists a way to express their opinion on Democrats’ refusal to address high gas prices.

The Tennessee Republican Party has released a new bumper sticker designed to help motorists express their disapproval of the Democrat Party’s refusal to approve increased drilling for oil in our own country in order to combat high gas prices and our dangerous dependence on imported oil.

The TRP releases the bumper sticker, and reiterates its endorsement of the grassroots Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less campaign, at the same time that Democrat leaders such as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are blocking all attempts by Republican lawmakers to force a vote on legislation to expand domestic oil drilling.

“The polls are unequivocal – the American people are ready for an energy policy that encourages more domestic oil production in addition to focusing on conservation, energy efficiency and developing alternative energy technologies, yet Democrats refuse,” said Tennessee Republican Party communications director Bill Hobbs. “And while it is the Washington Democrats who are refusing to vote to allow expanded oil drilling, Tennessee Democrat leaders like Tennessee Democrat Party Chairman Gray Sasser, Democrat Gov. Phil Bredesen and a host of elected Democrats across the state have endorsed the presidential campaign of Barack Obama, who also opposes increased oil drilling.”

More than 1.3 million Americans have already signed the Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less petition, on the web at http://www.americansolutions.com.

“A few weeks ago, I and the Tennessee Republican Party echoed the sentiments of millions of Tennesseans by joining the chorus of ‘Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less’,” said Robin Smith, Chairman of the Tennessee Republican party. “In sharp contrast, Tennessee Democrats have remained stone silent about moving their members of Congress to act to allow more domestic oil production.”

Democrats Against Drilling and the American People

The entire liberal Democrat community in both the US Senate and US House have been against drilling for many years…now with gas over $4.00…who is to blame ? Yes…the liberal Democrats in the US House and Senate…so don’t vote for any of them…send them packing in November along with Senator Obama…especially Senator Obama!

Democrats Against Drilling

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and other liberal leaders on Capitol Hill are gripped by cold-sweat terror. If they permit a vote on offshore drilling, they know they will lose when Blue Dogs and oil-patch Democrats defect to the GOP position of increasing domestic energy production. So the last failsafe is to shut down Congress.

Majority Leader Reid has decided that deliberation is too taxing for “the world’s greatest deliberative body.” This week he cut off serious energy amendments to his antispeculation bill. Then Senate Appropriations baron Robert Byrd abruptly canceled a bill markup planned for today where Republicans intended to press the issue. Mr. Byrd’s counterpart in the House, David Obey, is enforcing a similar lockdown. Speaker Pelosi says she won’t allow even a debate before Congress’s August recess begins in eight days.

She and Mr. Reid are cornered by substance. The upward pressure on oil prices is caused by rising world-wide consumption and limited growth in supplies. Yet at least 65% of America’s undiscovered, recoverable oil, and 40% of its natural gas, is hostage to the Congressional drilling moratorium.

The Democratic leadership is trying to smother any awareness of their responsibility for high prices. They are also trying to quash a revolt among Democrats who realize that the country is still dependent on fossil fuels, no matter how loudly quasimystical environmentalists like Al Gore claim otherwise.

I found this quote on the Free Republic that pretty much sums it up.

Something to think about. Don’t forget to get the word out, this election is important.

The Democrats forced a freeze on SPR(Strategic Petroleum Reserve). The oil prices went up.

The Democrats passed a farm bill with Ethanol. The oil prices went up.

The Democrats pushed a bill threatening to sue OPEC. The oil prices went up.

The Democrats said “no drilling”(Can’t drill our way out, etc). The oil prices went up.

The Democrats held hearings decrying speculators, and pushed regulatory changes about speculation. The oil prices went up.

Democrats pushed for windfall profits on oil companies. Oil prices went up.

Democrats begged Saudi Arabia to pump more oil. Oil prices went up.

Democrats passed measure increasing “renewable fuel” investments. Oil prices went up.

The Democrats went on vacation (4Th of July). Oil prices went down.

Bush announced the end of the executive ban on drilling. Oil prices plummeted, biggest 2-day drop ever.

Bush administration cleared regulatory hurdles to drill in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska. Oil prices went down.

A new well was brought online. Oil prices went down.

Administration published new relaxed rules for shale oil. Oil prices went down.

We made it through hurricane season so far; Latest storm didn’t bother gulf – oil prices went down.

So far, it looks like everything the Democrats said would lower prices actually raised prices.

Meanwhile, everything that happened that looked like it would INCREASE SUPPLY caused the oil prices to DROP.

So, economics 101 is still operative. Supply and demand folks. It still works.

Get government involved in the market and prices go up, get them out and prices go down.

Leave the markets alone congress!! Do something productive like… oh I don’t know, go on vacations! (See above)

Father – Daughter Talk

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn’t even have time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, ‘How is your friend Audrey doing?’ She replied, ‘Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She’s always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn’t even show up for classes because she’s too hung over.’

Her wise father asked his daughter, ‘Why don’t you go to the Dean’s office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.’

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back, ‘That’s a crazy idea, and how would that be fair! I’ve worked really hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!’

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, ‘Welcome to the Republican party.’

The Website of the day is Ann Coulter’s new blog, Get Drunk and Vote for McCain. I think the title says it all!

“The irony is, the only people McCain can count on to vote for him are the very Republicans he despises — at least those of us who can get drunk enough on Election Day to pull the lever for him. In fact, we should organize parties around the country where Republicans can get drunk so they can vote for McCain. We can pass out clothespins with his name as a reminder and slogan-festooned vomit bags. The East Coast parties can post the number of drinks necessary for the task to help the West Coast parties.” — Ann Coulter

America’s Oil Held Hostage by the Democrats

Voting for Democrats in November guarantees we will never be free from foreign oil because they will never let the American people develop our own independent fuel resources. You can’t build enough wind mills, solar panels or electric cars, to replace our present energy needs…not in 10 years, not in 20…and what are we supposed to do in the mean time?

What possible reason could the Democrats have for not drilling other than somebody is lining their pockets not to!

Drill Now, Drill Everywhere and Drill Often!

Free Our Oil

That was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s catchphrase last week as she continued to grope for an energy policy. One of her ideas was to request “a small drawdown” in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, no irony intended. At least President Bush has finally called the Speaker’s bluff by rescinding the 1990 executive ban on offshore energy exploration.

With Mr. Bush’s belated decision yesterday, Congress’s moratorium on offshore drilling is now the last major political barrier to increasing domestic oil-and-gas production. Yet Democratic leaders have refused to schedule even a single hearing on the topic. House Appropriations Chairman David Obey recently shut down the annual budget process rather than allow Republicans to offer drilling amendments. He and the Speaker know that if they allow a vote, moderate Democrats are sure to defect and the offshore moratorium could end.

Ms. Pelosi called Mr. Bush’s announcement “a hoax” and made a few cracks about “the oilman in the White House,” continuing the Democratic strategy of blaming everyone from industry executives to “speculators” for the energy crunch. But none of those compare to world-wide demand, tight spare production capacity and inflation – the real causes of today’s record high oil prices. Easing access to the Outer Continental Shelf, with its likely low-end estimates of 86 billion barrels of oil and 420 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, is one of the few responsible long-term remedies.

Congress’s 27-year ban typically comes in the form of a rider to annual spending bills. This year the ban expires on September 30. To borrow Speaker Pelosi’s slogan . . .
