Yolk
Artist Duane Keiser demonstrates a rather unusual way to crack an egg in this video entitled Yolk, from his A Painting A Day series of online videos.
Duane’s painting series might be just what you need to fill that void left behind by Bob Ross’ death years ago, and this little fluffy egg video is a great place to start your new painting show obsession.
Now grab your brushes and palette and paint the yolk outta that egg!
Abandoned Antique Cars Nature Has Reclaimed
After they paved paradise and put up a parking lot, paradise fought back. Peter Lippmann’s photos foretell the fate of many a gas-guzzling machine with cars that have been reclaimed by nature.
Lippmann’s photo series is called, appropriately, Paradise Parking, and it’s all the more beautiful for having antique cars as its subjects. I imagine it would take a bit longer for some more modern vehicles to look so melancholy under the ivy.
Still Life
Still Life by Scott Garner is an interactive wall piece that takes traditional still life painting and ads a motion-sensitive frame on a rotating mount.
Years ago I had the idea of a still life painting that wasn’t so still, but could never quite wrap my head around how to build it. After various experiments and explorations, I settled on Unity 3D as the ideal tool to make it happen.
The installation includes a custom-framed television connected to a rotating mount from Ergomart. Attached to the back is a spatial sensor from Phidgets. On the software side is a simple C application to communicate with the sensor and feed the data to a Unity 3D scene. The scene itself consists of a camera tied to the sensor data with all lights and objects parented to it so they rotate in unison.
