Turns out the hockey mom is also a motorcycle maven.
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin recently welcomed the crew from Orange County Choppers – whose custom motorcycle business is featured on TLC’s American Chopper – to Anchorage where show star Paul Teutul Sr. researched building a bike to honor Alaska’s 50-year anniversary of being a state.
“It means so much to the state of Alaska that these guys are building this bike that will honor statehood here,” Palin says in the episode, airing April 30 at 9 p.m.
Paul Sr. hangs out with the Governor in her office and talks about the Alaskan weather, snowmobiling and fishing in the summer. “I inherit whatever [husband] Todd rejects from the year before,” Palin says.
After inviting the OCC crew back for the summer months, she suggests having fun Alaska style, saying, “We’ll ride the bike to the fishing hole.”
Although initially nervous about the meeting, Paul Sr. says that he felt Palin was “a real down to earth person to talk to.”
From Alaska, the OCC crew heads to Finland in an effort to market their bikes overseas.

Sarah Palin on North Korea’s Missile Test and Obama’s Missile-Defense Cuts
If there is one thing that Sarah Palin understands that King ACORN doesn’t it’s Ronald Reagan’s philosophy of “Peace Through Strength”. The video at the bottom of this post is just as relevant today as it was back in 1980.
Responding to the missile test by North Korea, Governor Sarah Palin today reaffirmed Alaska’s commitment to protecting America from rogue nation missile attacks.
“I am deeply concerned with North Korea’s development and testing program which has clear potential of impacting Alaska, a sovereign state of the United States, with a potentially nuclear armed warhead,” Governor Palin said. “I can’t emphasize enough how important it is that we continue to develop and perfect the global missile defense network. Alaska’s strategic location and the system in place here have proven invaluable in defending the nation.”
Governor Palin stressed the importance of Fort Greely and the need for continued funding for the Missile Defense Agency. The governor is firmly against U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates’ proposed $1.4 billion reduction of the Missile Defense Agency. Greely’s isolated location in Alaska as well as its strategic location in the Pacific allows for maximum security and development of the country’s only ground-based missile defense complex.
“Our early opposition to reduced funding for the Missile Defense Agency is proving to be well-founded during this turbulent time,” Governor Palin said. “I continue to support the development and implementation of a defensive missile shield based in Alaska. We are strategically placed to defend the critical assets of the United States and our allies in the Pacific Theater.”
Governor Palin also requested stimulus funding for the Kodiak Launch Complex. The Kodiak Launch Complex is a commercial rocket launch facility for sub-orbital and orbital space launch vehicles owned and operated by the Alaska Aerospace Development Corporation, a public corporation of the State of Alaska.
“To preserve our peace and our freedom we must maintain a margin of safety. Not numerical superiority in arms and armament , but a margin of safety that is a combination. A balance of a strong economy, mutual respect and unity among our great allies and a revitalized up to date military capability. History has taught us only too well, that tyrants are tempted only when the forces of freedom are weak, not when they’re strong.” ~ Ronald Reagan
The Real Size of Alaska
Alaska is such a huge state! If you were to imagine it positioned over the Lower 48, Alaska would stretch from the Atlantic Ocean across the continent to the Pacific Ocean.
The McCain/Palin team should use this image every day. If a Democrat from Alaska was on the ticket, the “Main Stream Media” would let every American see it, as a symbol of the importance of her job as Governor. Imagine the comparison with Delaware if the parties were reversed.

There is a New Girl in Town, and it ain’t Hillary
Sarah Palin is an absolutely brilliant choice for Vice President and the pictures above say it all. She has more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined! She has lived outside the beltway all her life! She, not Obama, represents real CHANGE for America.
This pick gives me HOPE for America, not HOPE based on money…but HOPE based on morality, compassion, wisdom and patriotism.
To paraphrase Michelle Obama; “For the first time in years, I am proud to be a Republican.”
Here is the video of McCain’s announcement. Sarah’s attitude and spunk are inspiring. Could she be America’s version of a young Margret Thatcher?

Alaska Governor to Harry Reid: Start drilling in ANWR
The stranglehold the Liberal Congress has on American prosperity is astounding. These corrupt bums must be voted out in November for this nation to survive.
A copy of the letter is at the bottom of this post for your reading enjoyment.
Alaska guv to Sen. Reid: Start drilling in ANWR!
In a letter to Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and other key leaders, Alaska Republican Gov. Sarah Palin urges Congress to allow drilling for oil on the Outer Continental Shelf and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in northern Alaska, an area she calls “the most promising unexplored petroleum province in North America.”
“What will it take for Congress to enact comprehensive energy policy?” Palin asks in the letter, dated yesterday. “In my opinion, the debate about energy policy is no longer theoretical and abstract. Our failure to enact an energy policy is having real consequences for every American in their daily lives and has begun to affect America’s place in the world.”
Palin, whose name appears on lists of potential vice-presidential candidates, concludes with a bold challenge: “I don’t think it’s overly dramatic to say that his nation’s future and the quality of life for every American are dependent on the decision you make or don’t make in the next few months.”
Last week, Reid called Sen. John McCain’s call for offshore drilling “nothing more than a cynical campaign ploy that will do nothing to lower energy prices and represents another big giveaway to oil companies already making billions in profits.”
Lumping Palin in that accusation would prove difficult, as the governor made headlines earlier in her term for taking on Alaska’s oil and gas commissioner, who was also the GOP state chairman, for ethics violations. More recently, she worked with bipartisan support to win an increased tax on oil companies’ profits.
Palin says in her letter she does not guarantee a price drop with drilling in ANWR but argues increasing domestic oil supply would “help reduce price volatility” and “send a strong message to oil speculators.”
“Yet, there is an even more important point,” Palin writes, contending America must take measures to decrease dependence on foreign oil, since “U.S. petrodollars are financing activities that are harmful to America and to our economic and military interests around the world.”
Environmentalists and Democrats in Congress long have argued against increased drilling in the U.S., favoring instead conservation and alternative fuels. Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama’s website promises $150 billion in increased spending to develop new fuels and renewable energy sources.
Palin’s letter argues against looking only to those approaches, pointing out a need for domestic oil production to supply the economy’s many products made from petroleum, not just gasoline.
“The soaring prices of chemicals, plastics, fertilizer and other products – and the loss of jobs – graphically illustrate this point,” the letter states. “We must recognize that is will be many years, if ever, before we discover alternatives to the petroleum-based products that every American uses in our daily lives.”
Palin addresses the concerns of environmentalists about drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, or ANWR.
Oil exploration and development “can be conducted in a safe manner,” she writes, pointing out the footprint of oil development facilities in ANWR would take up “less than 2,000 acres” of a refuge roughly the size of South Carolina.
