If there is one word that could describe “All in the Family” and “Archie Bunker’s Place” that would be “Timeless”. Old episodes of these shows remind us of the old saying “the more things change, the more they stay the same.” There is not a controversial topic today that Archie Bunker didn’t address back in the ’70’s. He imparted pearls of wisdom on topics such as affirmative action: “If your spics and your spades want their rightful share of the American dream, let ’em get out there and hustle for it like I done”, gun control: “All the airlines have to do to end skyjackings is arm the passengers” and Liberal bias in the media: “Pinko Conkrite”.
Too bad there aren’t any great philosophers like Archie Bunker in this increasingly progressive society, only politically correct Meatheads.
“Those were the days…”
